Hi, I'm Andrew Horder ...

Andrew Horder headshotAnd I used to be a busy fool – running about like a lunatic, trying to do everything at once, keeping all the plates spinning for all the different projects I was getting myself involved in.

And getting nowhere very fast!

So I developed a set of methods to bring clarity to my world, and to help me to get some traction in achieving the things that were really right for me.

From an early age, I always had an inquisitive, analytical nature, and an unusual understanding of what’s going on with people, underneath the surface. My unique blend of pragmatic business analysis and insightful mindset shifts allows me to give clients the perfect balance of head and heart to get them focused on the passion at the soul of their work.

The Busy Fool blog is where I share my personal ideas for getting what you really want out of life – read it here

After a successful corporate career handling major corporate key accounts – people like B&Q and RS Components amongst others – I reached the point where it was time to go out on my own.  By 2003 I was stuck in a job I hated, that was making me physically and mentally ill, where I had no alignment with what my bosses wanted me to do for them – and to clients!  I felt that I had no purpose in life – I was just drifting along, dead inside, hoping that somehow it would all come right.

Eventually it got so bad that I could hardly eat properly, I was dreading every day in the office, I felt like thumping my boss most of the time.  I had to get out of there.  So I took redundancy, to get back to a life with a purpose.

Round we go again ...

And I soon found myself back in a similar position – in 2006 the job was better, the boss was a bit less of a bully, I was even driving a nicer car.  But I was still floundering, asking myself what is the purpose of life, if this is all there is?

I’d completed my MBA (and realised some of that stuff is very useful, and some just doesn’t really apply to a small business), and I studied to become an NLP Master Practitioner (which made me realise quite how much I was already programmed … badly).  Now what?  Like most new businesses, especially in consultancy, I had a bit of a slow start. I found myself saying “Yes” to pretty much anything that came along – and a lot of that wasn’t what I really wanted to do. So I wasn’t great at it, and I certainly didn’t enjoy it!

OM_Boxv2_300Then, one day at a networking meeting a colleague was complaining that he had far too many potential opportunities, and not enough time to do them all. I realised that one of the tools I’d been using for analysing key accounts strategy was perfect to solve exactly that problem – prioritising which opportunity to focus on. So we re-designed the original tool, and it really helped him to get clarity on what to focus on - and Opportunity Matrix™ was born!

Of course, the next candidate for the Matrix was me. With the help of my coach, I fed all the things I was either already working on, or considering, into the analysis.   And promptly dropped at least half of my “opportunities”- they weren’t fun and they were never going to make me rich!

I regularly put myself through the Opportunity Matrix again, so now I’m concentrating only on the opportunities that really light me up: Getting people focused on work they love and do well (using three main tools: Talent Dynamics, Core Process & Opportunity Matrix™ - plus NLP coaching of course) and a new network of trusted advisors – somewhere for verified consultants, coaches and mentors to network, share best practice and grow their business together.

Loving Work

My experience has given me this firm belief that we all have the right – in fact, a duty – to find joy in our work.  To love what you do for a living, and make a living doing what you love.  Because I believe that, and because by now I have literally thousands of business hours in corporates and in small business – including my own – that means that people who work with me don’t just get the results you truly deserve, you also love the process of getting them!  Sound good to you? Then let’s book a chat!

SuccessIn all honesty, it’s not been an easy ride.  I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, spent silly amounts of money (just ask the financial controller!) on stuff that just didn’t work, or I didn’t put it into practice.  And I lost my way a few times too – lost my focus on the real purpose of my life (my own happiness!)

. . . and that’s why I’m now sharing my knowledge with people like me, and you! So you don’t have to go through my painful learning all over again, you get to benefit from the lessons I’ve been lucky enough to receive – bad and good!

This is your chance to really understand what lights you up, and how to make that an everyday part of what you do for a living, and your life.  Clients tell me they didn’t believe that the simple and profound exercises I use could really make the difference you can, and they are often amazed and delighted at the results.

As you would expect, I love the work I do with my clients - I’m having the best time of my life! And if you want to stop going through the motions, or spinning your wheels trying to do it all at once, and you want to find out how you really can finally have the life you deserve, where every day you get up bursting with energy and excitement about the day ahead, give me a call on +44 (0)7885 963 156skype me at andrewhorder, or e-mail me at Andrew@AndrewHorder.com and let’s identify your “Joyful Genius” and get you moving “from Busy Fool to Busy Cool”!
